I too have a pre-64 Model 70 in 257 Roberts in bound. I've been looking for this rifle in this calibre since about 1999.....anxious to try it out.

Glad to see you finally found one. I have not been searching for that long. Mine is ~1981 model I believe, which is fine by me. I have the rifle and glass, just need some mounts and rings now. We have a butt and a half of snow here and it's been a long time since we have seen temperatures above -25C so it may be a while before I actually get to shoot.

You are absolutely correct jiffx2781...this thread needs pics. Some time ago I began the process of becoming a paid member here, both because I enjoy the site and figure that I should support it, as well as paid members can upload direct from their computer if I understand correctly. I ran into a snag trying to fill out the necessary password changes etc. and had to contact the Admin."s here just to gain access back to my account. They explained everything and how to go about it but I just never got back around to getting it done. Call it part lazy, part tired of computer problems and part busy with everything else in life.
I should just get it done.

And here is the rifle - Ruger M77 in 7x57 - that started this post in the first place...lol I am looking for a conventional Ruger wood stock for it to replace the black one that is currently on it.
