I think for the money, they are a great gun. Just bought myself a Savage .22 bolt for messing around with. I cheaped out and bought the one with the rubbery plastic stock though. My son loves it too.

To think, I wasted 5k on a sako quad and a swarovki,just to kill gophers. My daughter never lets me touch it, when we are in the field.

I have the same rifle and it's very accurate. With crap Winchester T22 and a Trashco 6-24 Varmint I can do between 1 & 1/8" and 1 1/4" 10 shot groups at 100 yards.

I don't think you overdid it with the optics, I wish I'd have bought a better quality scope.
