Good idea! My grand kids (are 3,2, & 1. I can hardly wait to get them out there hunting.
A couple of years and some sled dog harnesses and they'll drag deer like no one's business!

Did a nice one this afternoon. When I hunt alone I pack a 8x8 tarp and some rope in my pack, if I shoot something, I wrap it in the tarp, tie a rope around the tarp and the head, make a loop to go around my waist and trek it out. takes up very little space and don't have to run back to the truck for a sled, the tarp slides very nicely compared to dragging a deer alone.
I used to use the Krazy carpet but, since I got the sled, I'd rather use that. The ropes don't tear through the sled since it goes all the way around it, and I had to buy a new carpet every year since the kids took it after hunting season. But I may give it another try next year. Hunted lots this year but didn't bag anything. Deer numbers were low and moose I saw weren't shootable. Didn't really have my heart in it this year. Had lots of meat from last years harvest still. More than enough for this year. Gonna devote some time to 'yotes and wolves this winter.Canadian tire sells 'adult' sized crazy carpets....you need to buy one and a heavy duty hole punch. Punch holes every 3-4" along the sides, 2" in from the edge. Roll your animal onto the CC, use para cord to lace from side to side (like lacing your boots) pulling tight as you go. The end result is a neatly tucked slippery roll o' deer that slides over *everything*. We hunt the granite cliffs and thickets of the Boreal where quads are useless and drags over a km to the boats aren't uncommon....trust me, the crazy carpet is your friend![]()
