My LGS recently introduced me to Sellier and Bellot and I have been impressed at how clean it shoots, and how clean the rounds are. The price point is also very good (at least for 9mm). I have since watched a video of how this ammo is made and their QC is very impressive. Further, I read that even their raw materials are all sourced locally which keeps the supply chain local.

I bought some more rounds recently and in writing the date of purchase on the box (just my habit to know when I bought it), I noticed the disclaimer or warning. Makes me love this ammo even more.

Warning says: Keep out of reach of children and incompetent people. I don't know if this was what the Czech to English translator intended, but it's a refreshing change to the usual verbiage.

Of course, I would love to have the stats on how many incompetent people will read that and then change their mind regarding their purchase, realizing the ammo is not suitable for them.

Now that I think about it upon careful personal reflection, I may need to return the ammo, since I may not meet the strict user qualifications as stated on the box... ;)

That's hilarious and unfortunately true as well.

Exactly. Especially since right after the "incompetent people" sentence it states Read all warnings on box and flaps before use. Clearly I didn't do that. At least you did!

You are not alone in missing that warning :) The directness is quite European in spirit (Germany and Eastern Europe).

Just learn to shoot and take a pill . there have been warnings on ammo boxes for years . open a box of 22 ammo . you will see a waning dangerous within 1 mile . be careful and that's the bottom line .

I really like their 9mm. I read this post and went to the ammo cabinet to check out a box.
Sure enough, there it was. I showed it to my wife and she read it aloud "Keep out the the reach of children and incompetent people".
-Then she just gave me that look, without saying anything more.

I took the box back and left the room.

I think they were going for retarded, knew enough to know they couldn't write that, and were at a loss for an appropriate synonym, so in their limited English settled on incompetent.

I thought the same thing initially and that was my impression as well.

I can say, in speaking two languages, that there is much lost in translation, and many cultures' rather pointed inflections of certain words, idioms, etc. unfortunately lose their original intended impact, once translated to another language.

So here's a question. I think it's a consensus that the quality of the ammo is good for shooting and reloading.

So why is this ammo generally cheaper than, say, the domestic stuff - Federal AE or CCI Blazer equivalent? I would think imported ammo would be priced at a premium (ie. look at Fiocchi)
