Gouge in barrel land in t97

Wouldn't the gas port itself suffer from the same problem then? If you think about it, the gas port is just an much deeper gouge, made by the same drill that made the much shallower gouge on the other side.

Exactly. Much ado about nothing. If it was an issues, all semi's with a chromed barrel would have this issue at the gas port. They don't. I'm not going to worry about a cosmetic issue that doesn't affect reliability, accuracy, and I have to use an endoscope to get a decent look at it.

Definitely a non-issue aside from the disappointing workmanship.

I have seen a 105mm howitzers with a land that is stripped right off for a length of a little more than an inch. It had no effect on accuracy even at 15km.

As long as the defect isn't longer than the driving band (that portion of the bullet that is engrave by the rifling) and it doesn't en t the muzzle, you won't notice a difference.

Any marginal impact on accuracy will improve as the barrel shoots in, as with all guns.

Firing at 15km is pretty insane.

I'll check mine when I get home. But I don't really care if it has a gouge/nick in it. I didn't expect perfection in the first place; it is a Chinese gun after all. (Not bashing, just being realistic.) I also didn't expect any "warranty service" as if I were dealing with S&W or something...

I sold a gun that I paid almost $2000 to buy the T97 for $999 with free shipping. The more expensive gun sucked: super magazine fussy, stovepipes every 10 to 20 rounds, poor ergonomics.

After 300 rounds, I can say that the T97 shoots very well. It's appears reliable, it is reasonably accurate, and it handles nicely. So, if it does have a gouge/nick, then it doesn't seem to be a problem...

I wonder ,Are they going to fire the guy on the gasport drill or put him in front of a firing squad,6000 executions a year.God bless Canada

Assume they are because the nork ar manual says 6000 Rounds too and I doubt their military rifle will be inferior to nork ar which is actually used in the military too ... Unless all export barrels are of lesser quality. Again we know nork ar are durable so the 6k must must be inaccurate or very conservative

The Nork AR manual says it's life expectancy is only 5000 rounds, IIRC.

Also, if you slugged your barrel, would you see the extent of the damage the gouge would have on a projectile?
