For around 100 yrs., big bore shooters/hunters have considered the 340 gr. Gould cast hollow pt. the best deer bullet bar none. I agree as I have used it on deer, usually with Black Powder, and results are excellent. There are now 2 diff. tests being run on this bullet in the .45 Colt and the .454 Casull. In the .45 Colt, SAA clone, it hit to point of aim(it's the first bullet to do so) and grouped at least as well as my best groups to date. When crimped over the front driving band it is short enough for the Pietta and Uberti Cylinders. I'm not sure of the results in the Casull yet, but this load definitely puts a lot more power in your hands with the .45 Colt revolver or rifle.

Youch:evil: Thats a big hunk of lead to be throwing out of them Italian jobs.
I dont doubt that the 340g hp will do the deed but may i ask what charges you use as i have an older Uberti in .45 lc and i dont rate it as one of the stronger S.A.A. revolvers.
T.I.A. for any info. .45-90:)

I intentionally used a light load in my Pietta .45 Colt, 4.2 grs of Trail Boss, recoil was okay, about the same as 255gr. Keith w/ 5.7gr. of Trail Boss. I will have to wait for the nice weather to test for any expansion at those velocities, with the big open point.
