So I was poking around the gcsurplus web site and came across this. The only clue as to what caliber it is, is that it seems to be Quebec corrections spent casings.

My understanding of these brass lots, is also that it can only be legally purchased for recycling. They've been posted on CGN here and there.

With that being said.. I don't remember where this was ever stated.

You don't have to scrap it. It is being sold for "recycling". If they wanted it to be rendered inert then they would "de-mil" it by crushing it, they demil the military stuff large than 50 caliber, as it must be made non-salvageable. I have bought off gc surplus a couple of times. It is usually really high-quality brass. If I didn't just take in 10,000 pounds of brass last week I would have thrown my hat in the ring for it.

I used to deal with a scrap yard that would buy that brass. I saw it once when I was at their warehouse. Most of the brass in the bins at that time were blank 5.56 & 7.62x51. Maybe things have changed since then. I would want to look at it before I bid on it. They had 30,000 lbs at the time. I'm pretty sure they were shipping it offshore.

Regards, Henry
