Govt of canada surplus site selling 3400 lb of lead for min bid of $400 in winnipeg!

Looks like it sold for $2777 for 3400 lbs or 82 cents a pound , not a huge deal but I bet a scrapper made a decent profit, I think current spot is around 98 cents US

Lead would only become radioactive if it was bombarded with neutrons. Dense materials such as lead are not used to shield neutron radiation because neutrons are best shielded by hydrogenous substances such as water or concrete.

I would buy that lead in a heartbeat

Try hospitals. Our local hospital's auxiliary sells their lead isotope bottles to raise money for the hospital. Mostly pure lead. I have mixed with WW alloy 3 ww- 1 isotope bottle for casting 9mm and 38spl bullets with no leading. The last time I bought they were .35 cents/lb.

Take Care

Bob
