Guys on an earlier post I asked about a .22 mag for close-in coyote work. I picked up some Federal's in 50g but would I have been further off with more FPS using the 40's? looking for knock down energy at yardages less than 100. lots of ?'s from a shotgun guy!

Like I know...

I'm guessin' with less than 100M, heavier the better...placement (as always) will be the cripple vs. kill

still reading through your "other" post. There's a new "Yote bounty" in a county close to me...
"camster, bounty hunter..."

The 50grn are awesome rounds, I don't know why Federal dicontinued them?? I gotta say the CCI 30grn Maxi-Mag +V rounds do some pretty impressive damage for a rimfire though! 40 grain is the standard, shot placement is always the important thing with Coyote and .22 Mag. Just practice and don't take pot-shots. You'll be fine.

the area that I hunt is heavily populated by both otes and folks. I am looking to extend my range over the Nova but not worry the neigbours I thought the .22m would fit the bill. I'm calling over decoys so most shots are standing targets.

I was lucky and picked up 200 rounds of the Federal 50grn hollow points.
