Grand Power K100 - First Impressions

Is there much available for holsters or accessories for this pistol? Might not be a bad idea to have a spare recoil spring or two and a trigger guard in the fix stuff box.

For holsters, you can get the Ghost Ultimate for the Mk7.

Bladetech stock one for the K100 as the STI GP6, although it is for the older version with the tapered muzzle. (Heat gun fix)

DAA make their race holster for the Mk7 and Mk12 and will be offering their PDR holster for the P1, K100, and X-Calibur.

LHS Holsters Canada try to keep the Rapid Draw holster available, but there summer order hasn't arrived.

For other spare parts, I've usually got an emergency stash, and when needed the factory will FedEx parts aside from slides, barrels, and magazines.
I am working on getting more spare parts in Canada.

As for spare springs, my main X-Cal ate 15K or more last year. (I think I put 3-5 through my back up)
It's recoil spring shows no signs of weakening.

Thanks.....good info to know!

The trigger guard takes about 4 minutes to replace if it is broken, and it does double duty as a shock buffer.

However, some folks mistakenly thought it was like a S&W 41 or Walther PPK, and tried to pull the trigger guard down like it was a hinge, cracking the polymer grip.
We also had some grips broken when people accidently failed to snap the trigger guard fully closed on reassembly.

When we were engineering the grip for the larger magazine .40 and .45 models, we went to a disassembly latch instead.
We applied the same system to the mold for the 9mm grip shortly after.

Another bonus is the railed portion of the dust cover will be stiffer without the hole in the middle where the guard latch passes through.
Not a big deal for most people but less flex up there is good if you have a light or laser mounted on the rail.

On the way!

My GP K100 finally shipped today (NB CFO mailed the transfer confirmation to Dlask instead of sending a fax.) only 12 days after I ordered it. Now I just have to wait for Canada Post to move it (slowly by truck) across the country. Being involved with firearms in this country certainly teaches patience!

The K100 arrived this AM....so far I'm very favourably impressed with the fit and finish.....for the price I'd say it was a bargain. The stock grip might be a little thin for me....feels like i might need the larger size but I'll wait until I've shot the gun to make that call. I don't want to spend $50+ freight for the grip set only to say "nah, the other one is OK" I think what I'm looking for is more palm swell.. Is that the correct term? (Feels like the grip should be thicker/more rounded on the sides so it fills my palm better)

Dlask was good to deal with and the only delay was caused by the NB CFO not the dealer. (CFO mailed the transfer approval to BC rather than faxing so that added about a week)

With a proper thumbs forward grip, is your trigger finger in the right position on the trigger in single action?
If you find your self with too much trigger finger in the guard, the next size up might help.

Maybe I'm not understanding the whole "changable grips" thing. Would a larger grip just increase the distance front to back or would it be fatter? (more oval/less rectangular in cross section) I think (just from holding the gun) that a more oval grip might feel better. The ball of my triggar finger is on the trigger with the grip you describe so i don't think the grip needs to be longer back to front.

Maybe "palm swell' doesn't mean what i think it does

The backstraps largely affect the front to back distance, and do very little to affect the width of the grip.

I see.....thanks. The front to back distance seems fine so i guess I'll stick with the standard grip that came with the gun. (still feels better to me tham the S&W MP9 or the Jericho 941 I held) What's your opinion on those stick-on palm swell patches you see advertised?

Buddy of mine just bought one a few weeks ago and he loves it. I tried a couple mags in it and it is a dream to shoot. Hold nice in the hand, very nice trigger and surprisingly accurate. I plan on getting one also! !

I just picked up the Mk 12 X-Trim model.
Gun feels beefier and heavier than the supposed 24 oz, without mag. But the ergonomics are great. Fits my hand nicely.
Double action trigger pull is heavy but constant without any gritty feel. Supposed to be 8-9 lbs and I believe it.
Single action, on the other hand, is very nice and breaks cleanly at a touch under 4 lbs instead of the supposed 4.5-5.5 lbs (I measured it).
The reset is ... awesomely short.
Came with three extra white dot front sights (not sure why), but the red FO sight is mounted.
The mag release button is huge and protrudes a bit, but does fit nicely into the web of my hand without danger of actuation.
And it seems to require quite a bit of effort to actuate it.
Ambi safety lever is thin and very positive.
I bought two extra mags (for a total of four). They were expensive, at $55 apiece, and not terribly impressive at first glance, to be honest.
After shooting it ... The double action trigger also didn't seem to be as nearly as heavy with a full mag inserted and the bang switch turned all the way to 11.
This thing also has the 'auto forward feature' upon mag insertion - like the S&W M&P - which I really like.
Groups pretty well ... 10 shots at 10 yards.

At 24 oz this gun should be a winner for IDPA SSP Division. I first ran into this gun at the Alberta Provincials a few years back. It seems to be priced right quth a very good stock trigger. What is not to like. Just bought a SIG so it maybe awhile before I chase one of these down.

Take Care

Bob
