Grand Power K100 MK7 Issues.

I wish I had copied the the manual before I sent them back today. The picture in the MK7 manual looks just like the 53GR image. Even if my eyes decived me and it was only as far as you say, that is a small margin of error. That is a 0.65 centimeter difference from safe to catastrophic failure. J & G said they looked at 50-60 guns they had in stock, and did not see any others with damage. They also said that with the exception of one gun, all the others had serial numbers much larger that the two I received. If it turns out to be an isolated occurrence, I will be back, because the gun felt great. BTW my serial numbers were 1k-003## & 1k-003## one number apart in the 300's.

With apologies for the crappy camera....

bjs7293, they run 430-500 usd. Thanks for the video Canuck223, is that a MK6 or a MK7 gun that you are using? Grand Power & Century Arms need to remake their manual or add a disclaimer about the trigger guard. I found a copy of the manual at http://www.centuryarms.com/manuals/pdf_flipbook/K100, K100 X-TRIM, P1 Pistol Manual/index.html It shows how they want you to take the gun apart. The guard on our guns would not stay out like in this picture. I took 2 sceen shots of this manual and it shows the trigger guard all the way out like the 53GR image.

Mine is an older \mk6 but the trigger guard is the same part.

I have forwarded your pictures and experience to Grand Power's US rep, and will talk with him later tonight.

If there needs to be a change to the manual, he'll get it done.

Again, thanks for the help. With all the big names sold out in the US, Grand Power has a huge opportunity to grab market share IF the MK7 is not defective. They are the best balanced, and best feeling gun in the hand that I have ever held.

Hi mk7
Bought my first gp6 from Armco, arrived ok, cleaned and lubed it and noticed oil seeping from an invisible fracture..... Identicle to yours........
Rang Gunnar, packed it up and sent it back. Had to wait a couple of weeks, but was returned to me in new frame.... Not common I believe, maybe we were just unlucky.
Still have the pistol, and it's been flawless since.
Hope this gets resolved quickly for you, and enjoy when it's back.

Thanks Import, Luck is not my strong suit! I was all excited when I saw they had sent me a matched pair (I did not ask for it) telling the wife that they sould be very much the same because they were built together (I guess they were the same :( ). Now if/when I buy replacements I will make sure the serial numbers are a lot bigger!

If I had a video host that could accomodate a big video file, I have a factory video showing how to change out a trigger guard.

It's not hard at all. The biggest issue is the mag catch tube. I'm sure in a pinch you can get it in and out without damage, but the factory recommend making a tool and show the dimentions. It's just a rod turned to the right diameter with a slight collar, to protect the tube from distortion and the frame from damage.

After the normal field stripping, you press the mag catch tube out from right to left.
You use a punch to press the trigger guard pin out from right to left.
You pull the trigger guard out.

You install the mag catch into the new trigger guard using a short assembly pin.
You install the trigger guard, and tap in the mag catch tube.
You tap in the trigger guard pin and drive out the assembly pin.

4 minutes work if you have the tools.

I hope that they bring the new design of the .40 takedown into the 9mm for several reasons but what's your opinion on the future of that possibility?

Thanks Canuck, I figured it was pretty easy....what about the second question?

Grand Power refer to the solid trigger grip frame as the MK12, and the 9mm version will follow the same pattern.
Thing is, I haven't got the slightest idea when they plan on moving all of the origional grip frame models to the new style.

Crack on the frame could happened by trigger guard not being snaped back into position while shooting. It is impossible to damage frame by field stripping the pistol. Trigger guard also works as buffer and absorbs recoil impact, so it needs to be replaced after about 20 000 shots. To avoid accidents like this in the future, new conception of the frame have been developed and will be available soon.

Love the finish on that .45 slide......

Yep, I like the tri-top look of the 9mm's, but this does appeal to me. It also has a new front sight style like the X-Caliber. Don't know if this will be the new format, but it does make it easier to make different width front sights.

I'm guessing these pistols would be a no-go in a FOBUS or similar retention holster as the holster grabs the front of the trigger guard!? Draw pistol, fire...KABOOM! The whole thing blows apart because by drawing the pistol you have inadvertently initiated field strip/ take down!? Bad design me thinks.

It's not the best design but I don't see it disassembling out of a holster.
