I bought a used K100 recently. The safety lever has no tension at all. Being the stubborn phuck that I am, before carting it up to Casey's, I figured I'd have a look myself.

It took me a bit to figure out how to take the frame apart, but it's not terribly hard.

I found the problem with the safety. There are ball detents on either side. On mine, one is missing and the second is stuck up the hole.

Stupid question, but for anyone else out there with one, are the ball detents on yours captive or are they free to fall out? I have to assume they are captive or else assembly would be a #####.

I am unhappy with the safety on mine because it takes so little pressure to put it off or on. It is easily brushed on or off when drawing or holstering. The ball detents are not stuck on mine, but in my opinion they should have stronger springs. I e-mailed Grand Power, asking if it could be converted to stronger springs, but the answer I got back is that the safety can be "blended" by which they mean, replaced with a plug so it is eliminated like on the DAO mode. It looks to me like the retaining bushing is pressed in from the outside after the spring and detent ball. E-mail them and see what they tell you, I would be interested to hear.

Frankly is it was legal for IPSC Production division, I would be blending the safety. The manual safety is rarely is ever going to see use on mine.

There is the flat metal safety available.

That's what I've got on mine. If I'm going to have a safety, I'd prefer a bit more meat to it, so I may upgrade to the fatter plastic model at some point. I'd just rather replace it with the simple plug that Yaro offers.

Well I had the trigger sub assembly up to Casey's for a look.

He found that they are not ball detents, but plungers. The hole was rough so he's going to clean it up and make a new plunger to replace the missing one.

After 90 minutes of working inside a glove bag to avoid loosing the phucking detents, I had to decide between grabbing the recoilless hammer to finish the job, or put it away and take it back to Casey.

Better sense prevailed and I accepted defeat. I don't know how this system is supposed to work, but mine is giving me kittens.

I think the idea is great, but unless the factory can make them captive plungers, it's going to be a constant source of complaint.

:) All working inside of k100 is too easy, but you need training :)
