I started with a tuned CZ Shadow SP01, but tried out a Grand Power X-Calibur based on this review done by a pretty experienced local shooter h ttp://www.shooterready.ca/2014/02/04/grand-power-x-calibur-review/
I liked the Shadow, but my issue with it was finding the right grips. The stock rubber grips fit my hands well, but got slippery in the summer with a little sweat. The aluminum grips (checkered, and grip tape style) felt too thin, and were not aggressive enough, so I wasn't able to manage recoil as efficiently.
The X-Calibur, fit my hands perfectly, and with the addition of some grip-tape just didn't move in my hands. The recoil was softer as well, so I was able to reduce my splits. The new Shadow 2 recoil is about the same, but it's also much heavier.
The X-Calibur also has a better DA/SA trigger out of the box then my Shadow. My friends need to use reduced power main springs and/or trigger jobs to get the same nice trigger
If you are in the Lower Mainland, you can come to one of our club practices and try out my spare X-Calibur, and my Shadow.
