Grand Power?

I’ve only shot 147 grain Wolf through it so far. I’ve put 800 rounds through it now and only cleaned it when I got it so I’m thinking it’ll need a cleaning every 500 or so because it was really starting to have issues, failures to feed and slide not locking back. I benched it and shot an amazing group but was almost 2 inches left so I need to try to adjust the sights. I think I’ll have to try a larger backstrap as well, I started with the second smallest which initially felt pretty good but it’s starting to feel uncomfortable.

The X-Calibur can be run pretty dirty as long as you lubricate with light oil vs grease or CLP.

It's a gun that by design is right on the hairy edge of functioning to try and reduce muzzle lift to the minimum. (As in there is not a huge energy surplus over the force required to cycle the slide/barrel through recoil and counter recoil when shooting minor power factor ammo.) With 1911 and 2011 they call that sort of system "stroking" but the idea is that rather than having the slide slamming back and raising the muzzle, the X-Calibur burns off that energy in rotation of the massive barrel.

If the gun is acting like it's short stroking, you can firm up your grip to make sure you are not absorbing too much of that energy, and you can make sure that the power factor of the ammo you use is high enough. Have you chronied the Wolf ammo from your gun? A good number for safety is 132. (ie a cold/hot/cloudy day or less skilled RO at the chrony doesn't turn into shooting for no score.)
