Did your grandfather buy it beat up and in poor shape or did he buy it new? I'd say if you want, put it back into the shape it was when he bought it and enjoy it as he did...then you'd have a 3rd generation with the same experience...let your grandchild decide what he wants to do with it, now that would be neat ....
