Greasing my Garand

I have been working for the last year on slowly building a Garand from parts. Since it is not fully complete yet, I had never worried about lubricating it yet. I have just used REMoil to clean and protect parts so far. Yesterday I greased the bolt, receiver, and rear sight. Man does the bolt move much nicer now!

Now I just need to wait for like, 6 months for my barrel (Criterion is massively back ordered).

I suggest you get your hands on a copy of FM 23-5. It will instruct you in the proper care and maintenance of your rifle,

I use synthetic wheelbearing grease for my M1. A tube will last you a lifetime.

Reading this page, it would appear that really any NLGI grade 2 grease will work better that the original Lubriplate 130A. I got a giant tube on sale at Canadian Tire for under $7.
