So I walked into a local Gunshow today with Zero intention to buy another rifle as I'm trying to downsize as it is and of course end up walking out with a Mosin M91/30 (1937) and it's bayonet, some handling marks in the wood but no rust other then a small bit on the buttplate... $160.

Seems to be a high wall receiver, and has the Ukraine refurbishment square on the but stock and on the receiver. With a bunch of other markings I haven't had time to look over quite yet.

The bolt number does not match, but the previous owner had used the rifle and said things worked fine. I love the 2000 yard marking on the rear sight...very optimistic. :D

This is a long rifle in comparison to my Mosin M44, it almost doesn't fit in the safe even with the bayonet off. :D

I'm looking at this as more as a rugged hunting rifle then a collector piece.
Anyway that's my story...

Who else has a developing Mosin addiction?

Calum, downsizing? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, damn, I can't stop laughing, ha ha ha ha haaaaaa.

I tried that once. I think I have a magenet implanted in my butt. I don't know where they come from. I've even had them left on my door step and had to get them registered. Try explaining that one. I'm sure they believed it on the other end.

Sorry for the dig Calum, it's just that I feel your pain.

It is a rugged hunting rifle, I've used my M91/30 all season. Its taken on the odd ding in the wood, but all minor stuff. I can deal with the weight and the length, but I wish I could make the safety a little quieter and easy to use. That heavy metallic "click" makes the critters ears lift up real fast. However, taking the safety off is less of a noise than putting it on.

I don't know what it is about the Mosin M44.
I like new "black guns" but when it comes to my Polish M44 there's something that feels just right about the rifle when I'm fondling it.
Why am I just fondling it?....because I only have 60 rounds of surplus ammo left, can't find any at a reasonable price, and I get the sweats thinking about shooting it until I find more.
I'll shoot my other stuff until then.

LOL, no prob' and it is nice to hear I'm not alone. I wish I had started out collecting gun safes. :D

I feel your pain, my M44 went without ammo for 3 years.

Finally!...that's great news. Maybe I should re-consider signing up for Facebook....nah.
Hope Johnone emails me to let me know like he promised. I'm good for a crate.

I was going to post some pics but it sort of looks like every other of the millions made. :D

I guess I could put some Mosin #### up in a day or so.
Also it's rather hard to fit all of this rifle in one picture. :D
