I've been working 6x 12's at work, so the only time I can get out deer hunting is on sundays, and of course saturday night I got way too drunk and slept in for a morning hunt.

Anyways, yesterday, I get out to my stand at 4:30, get my bow set up and just get comfortable, when 60 yards behind me in the forest I hear a LAWN MOWER.... Yep a lawn mower start up, on my dads property.

So I get out of my stand, and go to investigate. There is a guy, riding a lawn mower, towing a trailer, stealing fire wood.

So I get 10 feet from the guy before he spots me, and he proceeds to yell at me for trespassing, and in 30 words or less tells me to F off.

So the argument gets heated, and he takes off on his mower.

Needless to say, I followed his slow ass 30 mins through trails back to his house and called the police.

He's getting charged with trespassing, and theft.

I just wanna get a deer :(

Considering the number of times I've gone out and not got a deer, I'd be happy with one more where instead I got to catch a guy who accused me of trespassing while he was trespassing on and stealing from my family's property and get him charged. :D

Good on you! Sounds like he was trying to bluff you, hoping you were off limits as well.
This dipsh**s needs to be taught a lesson.
Trespassing and theft are on the increase across the country.
Only intervention by the public will have an effect on these idiots.

I love it.... "he takes off on his mower" who did he think he was going to out run. Good on you for pursuing charges on this guy.

It never fails that the offending party thinks that they are entitled to go anywhere they please and how vocal they get.
Last year I had a bunch of signs pulled and tossed into a drainage ditch. I guess you can't fix ignorance and lack of respect!!

Sucks that your hunt was ruined, but at least you caught the trespassing thief.

For a second I thought you'd be the guy I ran into while hunting Sunday evening. I got to where I wanted to setup my climber, and there's this truck sitting there. It didn't have farm plates, so it wasn't the farmer, but he's doing some digging so I thought maybe a contracter checking on some work. Finally a guy comes out all camo'd up to see what I was looking for, it was his truck. He had permission to hunt there as well, so no prob, I'll set up here out of your way, introduction and handshake and away we go. A little time goes by and to young boys and thier dog show up a couple hundred yards away on the other side of the field, they make thier way across without to much commotion and all's good. 15 mins later dad's comin down the laneway blaring the horn all the way calling for his boys. He stops on the other side of the gully for a couple minutes and honks, then heads back honking all the way again. By now it's after 6 and legal light ends at 7. Not a darn thing showed it's face, go figure.

so i went back with the cops (i'm surprised they came back and looked) and counted 8 monster red oaks he dropped and cut up for wood.

its funny because this guy is the FIRST person to blow his whistle if youre on his property. 2 years ago someone shot a deer on the property next to ours, asked if they could track it through ours (again, what nice people to ask first) and they tracked it to that retards property. they guy told them to stay off and if it died on his property it was his.

Holy crap! I thought you meant that he was stealing pre-cut firewood from a log pile. When I realized that this jerk had actually cut down your trees I nearly had an aneurism.

I've thrown guys of his ilk off my property, I've even caught them putting up "No Trespassing" signs on my land, facing my house...but I hope that I never catch one cutting down timber. I've never been to jail and I don't want to go now.

wow if that happened to me I would just lose my mind and start a nabour war.
Last one I was in I won. it started with them throughing the cat #### from their cat into my yard, it ended with me thoughing two weeks of cat #### through their open window into their living room.

Don't forget to tell the cops that the oak was to be cut for vernier wood so the value is way over $5000 just to make the charge worse. Any jerk like this deserves the max you can give him.
Good for you !
