First, I want everyone to know I am not affiliated with ProNature in any way, shape, or form. I just go an E-mail of their flyer and they have a Remington 770, with 3-9 scope, in 270, '06, 7mm Mag or 300WM for $299. A pretty sweet deal for anyone looking for an inexpensive shooter. If they had one in 243 or 7-08 at that price, I'd snap up a couple for the grandkids.

You can get a Savage Axis or Remington 783 rifle/scope combo for about $100 more...
I've never tried one, so I'd like to hear from guys that have actually used them. I know that at that price, if it were in short action, I'd snap one up for the grandkids. As far as the scope goes, I have a scope that came with a Mossy 4X4 combo sitting on a 12 gauge slug gun, and I have absolutely 0 complaints about it. Holds up fine, nice and clear - at least at slug range. I just posted this because there are plenty of people out there who would love to get into hunting, but can't afford serious dollars. This will most likely get you out into the field, with a reliable gun (never read anything to the contrary) in a potent caliber. SOunds like a winner to me, if it gets even a few new hunters out into the field.
BTW, I just read a bunch of reviews, and they all seem to confirm that it is a very useable gun. The big issue I read about it is that it is a press fit barrel that can't really be changed. But who on earth buys a $299 rifle and scope combo with the intent of shooting out the barrel. It is sold as an entry level, budget shooter. Anyhow, to all those that don't like them, very simple answer - don't buy one, but don't discourage others who might like one, unless you can back up your statements with hands-on experience.
When the Mossy 4X4 came out, before the LBA triggers were put on them, I bought a 300 WM from Frontier, based on reviews I had read. I've shot well over 1000 rounds with it, and no issues. I did do a bit of work on the trigger to smooth it out, but it is a MOA rifle when I do my part, I've never had a problem with it. I swapped the scope for a Bushnell 6-18 ( a Trophy, I think), and the Mossy scope is on an 870 slug gun, where it has been working just fine. I don't regret the gun one bit. And as my grandkids start to get older, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be buying a similar rifle in a short action.
I guess they're like the Canada Value Package Grand Caravan I have. I'd love a Town and Country - much nicer vehicle, but my SE does everything I want it to, and then some, for the price of a Hyundai Accent. With this, you're getting a modern rifle for the price of a Nagant.

There are many other new budget guns that don't suck in every way imaginable. There are tons of nice Mauser sporters at Tradex under $300. The 770 is a pile of ####....

On top of that Pronature is like the dollar store of hunting shops. Anything that is brand name is retardedly overpriced, and 80% of the store is filled with cheap chinese garbage. They wanted $30 for a box of CCI 17hmr that was $16 at Lebarons, a Savage 17hmr with the heavy RJ laminate stock was $850 there and $500 everywhere else. That place blows too.
