Hi All.......I'm a relative newcomer here at CGN. Sept/Oct join date.......Getting back into shooting after a 25 year lay off....Anyway as a newcomer to the ranching life I wanted advice on bear protection. As I sot 12 gauge competitively I did not want another shot gun in my safe......So on recommendation from the forum I picked a Marlin 45-70 as my trusty ranch gun.
Then I get into the whole melee of JM's and Lemingtons.......Again on recommendation from members here I started searching for JM stamped Marlins......I wanted a 336 for my son and a 45-70 for me.
First to arrive was an as new 336SS. It's flawless......about 20 rounds through it.....Very Happy. The Guide Gun would prove to be somewhat more difficult in Pistol Grip and Stainless........But being patient has got me through to yesterday......A beautiful 45-70 Guide Gun in stainless but straight grip. In anticipation I had pre bought a Pistol Laminate wood set and probably the last 1895SS lever/trigger guard plate in Canada......again all through members here......One even going to the trouble of buying the lever from gunbroker for me.
I just want to thank you all for your help to date......
Sincerely.
