I had posted a question asking for tips in how to re-install the mainspring in an H&R Buffalo Classic. Anyhow, after untold hours of fiddling, cursing (did wonders for my vocabulary - I was using the word phoque as a verb, adverb, noun, and adjective in the same sentence),until I discovered this nifty little trick that can save you a crapload of work if you're ever faced with a similar situation.
The only info/video I was able to find showed the guy pushing the spring into place with a 3/32 punch. Almost impossible until I had the brilliant (yeah, I'm brilliant and humble) idea of filing a small rounded notch in the end of my punch, just enough to keep the spring from slipping off. Worked like a charm.
