Attended a level 1 IPSC match (my first match!) at the RA center in Ottawa this weekend. Just wanted to say that Jose setup an amazing, fun course and I had a great time. All the participants were very friendly and helpful too! I will definitly be back for more...

In my case, I met my goal of not getting DQ at my fist match and I actually shot decently in some case... I also made a silly (and kinda funny) mistake though...

Started a stage with a loaded gun, ran to my first station, and then promptly tried to reload a fresh mag only to find a full gun! Dropped the mag I had n my hand quickly (good thing), but then as I'm shooting I realized that in order to complete the stage I needed that mag. So, finished my targets, then picked up the mag (while not breakign 90 of course) and kept going through the stage... All good in the end except for some lost time and a bit of embarrasment! ;-)

Anyway, if you have the chance to attend an RA match, I high encourage it!

Cheers;

LOL! I remember trying to figure out what you were doing! LOL! Hard to remember everything at first.
You did really well!

I was the guy in Red Shirt and Glasses who's daughter was reading the book.
Shook your hand congratulating you near the sig in table.

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Dugald, yep I remember you for sure! It was a much appreciated gesture!

As for my "mistake", I found it pretty funny too actually... I was hoping that all the folks watching would think it was a cool new IPSC trick up my sleeve but... apparently not!

I'm actually glad I made a few people smile and chuckle... and I think it loosened me up a bit too! I did learn a couple of good lessons... I need a few more mags (just in case), don't loose your cool/get flustered under pressure, remember safety at all times, and deal with the issue and get on with it.

Was a good time with great folks!! Can't wait for the next match in the area.

Cheers;
Eric

Congratulations Eric. I was one of the wheelgunners from Kingston on your squad.
Now the pressure is off, you can enjoy the matches a bit more and practise, practise, practise.
It is great sport with a great bunch of people.

Yep, it was fun... thay almost always are! Congrats on the first match. Your not DQ'ng goal is one to live by.

As for the attempted reload of a fresh mag... a dozen matches into my BB and I STILL pull silly stunts like that. ;)
