Great Mysteries of the Sporting Arms World

I use a Browning coffee cup because it's big enough. Biggest mystery is why anybody cares what anybody else likes or does.

I'd agree as I'm with you on "Why care?", but there's genuine reason to question it if you spend thirty seconds thinking about it. The problem is branding. Browning has quite ingeniously developed a logo and brand people are willing to pay to brandish. That's the new age, buying into a brand even if you may not practice it, and a good few take a step back and look at any brand with the same incredulity. It seems preposterous to myself and others folks will buy someone's advertising, then sport it on their own volition on their personal property. It's a mad, mad world, from Harley Davidson edition F150s to camo Browning stickers.

Why is there such thing as a tactical 30-30 lever action (mossberg)? I just can't get my head around that gun or the people that buy them.

I read an article in one of the larger gun mags (can't remember which at the moment) extolling the virtues of a pistol calibre lever action carbine as a home defense gun. This predated the Mossbergs existence, too.

Why can't people shoot irons these days? Everything has to have a scope on it....or is that just a CGN phenomenon?

BINGO! ..... Nailed it!

Guns are like children. Not all of them are bad. Some of them just don't get the proper love and attention and , due to the lack of hugs and positive reinforcement, they turn bad. If you catch it early enough, there are statistics that show intervention can turn a gun's life around and prevent it from hurting people. Some guns are just racially profiled and that's just wrong.

Why do so many gun owners buy into the some guns are good/some guns are bad narrative?

Why is it so hard for some to understand that the design features incorporated into modern semi-automatic rifles are advantageous to hunters and recreational shooters?

Why didn't I jump onto the bear defense opening provided by blasted_saber?

Why does Sako put a POS flimsy cast(?) side safety on a rifle that's gonna cost you 2 grand by the time the smoke clears? It just screams "cheeze". Put either a 3-position Mod 70 type, or a tang safety. The current one does not belong on a rifle that costly.

I miss irons terribly, but my eyesight has deteriorated over the past decade and now everything wears a scope... even nice iron sighted full stock rifles.... yetch...

Good to know, I have mine booked for June 11th!!!!!!
..... and when they say "take it easy" for a few days after, LISTEN to them.

During mine the surgeon asks the assistant if he's been golfing.
Assistant says "Yes".
Surgeon then asks if he lost any balls.

I went straight from the hospital and shovelled and wheelbarrowed three tri-axle loads of gravel onto the weeping tile of our new home I was constructing... paid for that for a week.
