Why do people put high powered optics on bush guns?
Why do many people but ridiculously high rings on their rifles and then have to add a cheek riser to complete an already stupid looking package.

Yes. You need at least a 300wsm to shoot deer at 75 yards. Anything else and the bullet will just bounce off.

I've taken deer and black bear with the 44-40, and deer/black bear/moose with the 30-30.
Are there better cartridges? I tried to ask the animals, but they were all dead.

Go to any gun store or range fudd and you will learn how to really shoot and what to use. Wonder who gave the animals this new kevlar.

It's a miracle that our ancestors were able to feed their families, without the in depth knowledge of how to properly season a barrel by cleaning it thoroughly after every shot, for the first fifty shots, then every second shot for the next 50 shot, and then do a voodoo dance, repeat the process a couple more times, with the odd sacrificial chicken thrown in.

Then, and only THEN, is it even worth bothering to zero your rifle, because it won't have any accuracy before you've completed this "barrel seasoning" process.
