Great news for Savage .22WMR and .17HMR owners!

I just was informed (from a very reliable source) that Savage has made the first run of 10 round mags for their .22WMR and .17HMR bolt guns.

As we all know (I own a Savage .17HMR), the original 5 round mags were OK, but a 10 round was on a "wish list" by a number of owners, including myself.

The first batch of 1000 have gone to the US warehouse for US distribution.
A second batch of 3000 are currently being made, 2000 blued and 1000 nickel plated.
So Canadian distributors/sellers do not have these yet.

I will have part numbers soon, and will edit my post to add them when I get them. I should also have a date when they will become available as well which I will add when I get that information.

I hope so too. One of mine holds 10 the other 9 and that is if they stay in the mag long enough to shoot them all.

my savage rifle never fed well with OEM mags anyway. It's not worse or better with this one. It's made just like the savage mag...

Checked with someone I know who is a distributor of Savage (not a dealer) and according to him, they have no word on any 10round, Savage-built magazines. Hope he's wrong. Not thrilled with the one I have from that other outfit, my 8-1/2 rounder.

Using four, five rounders isn't much better. you just need to bring somebody to load mags while you are busy shooting gophers. Can't wait for savage 10 rounders.

... Because the reviews are not very good on the aftermarket 10 rounders... and if Savage is bringing out their OEM 10 shot mags, it's because they have done extensive testing with them and are confident that they are a reliable unit, worthy of backing with their reputation and warranty.

All mine work fine, my OEM one from the factory and the 4 I bought from WSS in the 'Peg.

Some rifles I've read don't feed properly because the mag lock is bent back a bit. I would try bending it forward slightly to improve the feed angle. May or may not work, I haven't had my coffee yet so don't quote me on it ...

As for the 17hmrmag.com 10rd'ers ... I think I may have to take it apart and sand the sides of the follower to make it feed better.

Mark me interested, I bought couple of Savage rimfire rifles over last several months.

bought 2 from 17hrmmag... they work as well as the factory 5 round.
Personally my rifle never fed well... tried the bending thing, made it a lil better, but it still sucks at feeding well...
