Two weeks ago today I sent my old Leupold Vari-x II 1-4x20 for a bit of a check up and have one of the lenses replaced that I scratched a while back. Well today about five minutes before walking out the door to go to the gun range there was the mail man at the door with my scope in hand.

Here is what they did:
-Complete internal inspection
-Rework system and selector
-Replaced eyepiece
-Reworked field lense assembly
-Updated adjustments
-Recollimated
-Mechanical inspection
-Refilled and water tested

Now I was more than willing to pay for the lense that I scratched, christ this scope is around 20 years old . Now it is like a brand new scope and as clear as when it was new. I have dealt with allot of companies in the shooting industry over the years, but not one of them can compare to the sevice that Leupold provides.

I had a lense changed years ago from Bushnell and they charged me to do it. All the work Leupold has ever done for me has been free. I guess it is true, buy quality and buy once.

Bushnell, ya right

How much did you have to pay for the new lens on your Leupold?

Can you read? I said nothing in the above post
I can read and I had to ask to confirm.
I have sent in a couple of scopes to Leupold(Jim Korth Agencies in Okotoks) for repair.
One for a scratched lens and one for a damaged maintube.
I had to pay for both.
$114.49 for the lens including inspection and $150.31 for a new maintube including inspection.
I'm not pleased now.

Wierd  I just asked them to let me know the cost to replace the front lense and I would pay them. It came back today with a new front lense(I know because it had a very bad gouge out of it that couldnt be fixed) and what looks to me to be a new eyepiece and lense. Either way it looks like a new scope to me, and at no cost what so ever.

I have had this same service a few times before, and know many others that have had great service as well.

I had a bad experiance last year when I asked them not to ship a scope by Canada post, they did, and CP lost the scope. It wasnt thier fault though, more CP than anyone. I #####ed and they sent me a new scope very shortly after that.

:)

In light of the experience that you have had with Leupold, I am going to call them on Monday and see if they will do something for me.
I hope they will help me out.
Having heard of Leupolds great service and then having to pay for it was, I thought, a bit unusual.

Good Luck
John

I replied to your PM.

I was thinking tonight, it is funny why I would put up a post saying how great the service was from a particular company. Every company that we spend our hard earned money to support should be giving us that same great service, but as most of you know good service is hard to come by these days. Companies and reatil stores no longer seem to give a sh!t about thier customers anymore.

Well, I talked to Gord at Jim Korth Agencies Ltd, the Leupold service center in Canada, and he told me that if I had not admitted damaging the scopes myself and offered to pay for repairing them, he would have repaired them under warranty.
Costs money to be honest.

My scopes were repaired in a timely manner and I have no complaints about the service except, how come others get it at no charge and I had to pay for the same thing.

Good Luck
John
