Just thought after buying my second rifle from weimajack I should take the time to thank him for the great customer service. Now I know this thread is useless with out pics so here they are. Its a 1953 Tula matching number no refurb. The rifle was just as pictured and as posted. The marks on the fore grip are no where near as bad as the pictures make it look.

PS dont tell my wife I cleaned it on a bath towel, I threw it out right after and said I havent seen it!

Great looking SKS! I also just received an SKS non-refurb from Weimajack, his #99 1951 with the shiny gold bayonet.
But now I have a problem!......To Shoot....or Not to Shoot? In his sticky about collectable SKS, Curtton reccommends
that an un-issued non-refurb should be left unfired. I know that he is right but I am also itching to shoot it.

What do you all say? How will you view these rifles in twenty years when I want to sell my collection and they have all been used (a little) as shooters?

How is the mag pinned on this? Is it "Frankenpinned". If yes then go shoot it. Collector value is ruined by this method of pinning a mag. They also have nasty thing of braking off leaving you with prohibited device that start black choppers circling above you.
If no then get a refurbished one and shoot it.

Yes, mine is frankenpinned but in such a way as to not affect the serial number, which matches. I don't know whether to rejoice or grieve.
My idea of collecting is mainly for my own enjoyment, but I would like the collection to be worth more than just shooter value in twenty years.

What is the general attitude about collections of SKS that are just good rather than perfect?

i was going to buy one of these but when i saw the weld i changed my mind, even though it dosent affect the serial# its there and dosent look good on a collector grade rifle.I think of all the mag pinning methods this has to be the worst.Very nice sks all the same

Westrifle has some seriously bad frankenpinned mags, I don't believe weimajacks guns are as bad.

WELL.-

From the last shipment, we have some superb unrefurbs and rare Russian SKS rifles, but, unfortunately, all "frankenpinned".

To bad, but, that's life.

Just to be clear, frankenpinned is when the bottom of the mag has an ugly black blob on it.

Not when the rivet is simply visible on the bottom of the mag.

Yes, but some think that if you can see the rivet on the bottom, then its frankenpinned. Not the case, only when it looks like a mess.
