Congrats on your "new" Churchill. I still have the one I bought at the local McLeod's Hardware store in 1965, for $65. I don't have mine at hand, but here is a pic:

I think it is a 1916 as well. Wow! I've had this rifle for 46 years - and I'm only 39....:p

My #4 m2 Parker Hale. I would put this against any $1,000 rifle,, and I have.
I can outshoot most of the guys at the range at 200 yards. The trueth is that most people seem to use scopes for over 100 yds so they are not used to iron sights much less aperture sights unless they have military experience.

I got if for a song a while back and had to re-do the stock. other than that it played very nicely.

My First Deer!

So a long awaited update:

I got home from working to find the wonderful original, made in El Paso, TX steel tube weaver KV-60 I had bought had come in the mail!

So I brought the scope, rings and base down to reliable gun to get mounted and bore sighted.

I brought it in to Shane at Reliable the next morning and came by at lunch to pick it up. Shane mentioned it really brought back memories for his father seeing that rifle and scope combination. Also gave me a few tips on the operation of the scope. I walked out of there a very happy customer!

Next stop Kamloops!

The same uncle who gave me the rifle two years earlier and I headed out to the woods. Before lunch, my first deer! A nice little mule deer buck at that!

Trophy may be a bit small ;) but it will be goooood eating! ended up geting a bunch of steaks and 40 pounds of sausage. My local butcher did the sausage for me.

As you can tell from the shyte eating grin on my face, I was very happy!

Right on!! The old rifle looks good with that scope.

I have my Dad's old BSA converted M1917 30-06. It was traded away in about 1958, and I managed to buy it back 50 years later!! I had to pay a way too much for it, and it was kind of mangled, but it won't leave the family ever again!!:)
