Greatest Black Rifle Innovation in the Last Decade

Nothing revolutionary... just evolutionary. And mostly in optics and electronics and their standardised interfaces as already pointed out.

Most innovative: Super V system on TDI KRISS
Most useful (most likely): ARX-160 with the quick switch on ejection (aside being complete ambi gun. P90 and F2000 is a bit unique on ejection but quickly lose to ARX-160
Old dog w/ new tricks: ACR, HK416, FN SCAR, XCD

People over praise picatinny rail, there were rail before it -Pictinny rail just standardize it.

I guess the Kriss SuperV is innovative compared to a MAC 10
The AR 160 lost that being a truly Ambi platform well before it was even thought of to the French FAMAS :) and it was out in the late 80's so nothing new there:(
I agree with the old dog new tricks ACR,SCAR,AR ,416
I agree with Kevin B Elctro opitcs is the most innovative product in the last 10 yrs

H&k g11

I haven't read all the posts so did anybody mentioned the H&K G11.
I would suggest also the chain gun, which is not a hand-held firearm but nonetheless a real improvement in firearm mechanism & praised by many BIKERS...

Last Decade, not the 70's...

I think you made my case for me.;)

HK416 is a reworked AR15 (design dates back to the late 1950's), that uses a short stroke system (already in use in WW2, as in the SVT-40)

Not familiar with the KAC E3 bolt. This is what I Googled just now.

Doesnt seem truly new, just slightly different.

When I think of "Greatest Innovation", I'm not thinking "Lets change the shape a bit, and paint it Desert Tan, and rename it Tactical Combat Battle Awesome Assault Tactical Weapon System Rifle!!!"

I'm thinking of the technology jump from bolter to self loading.

The "new" 6.8x43mm SPC is a great round, however it is suspiciously similar to the 7x43mm round proposed back in the early '50s for use in the EM-2 bullpup rifle

All that may be copied from the past, but where does the KRISS carbine and it's bolt system come from?

True new day innovation.

If you want to get technical its made of metal and polymer which is the same as everything else, but all put together it makes for new innovation.

The 6.8spc might be similar to the other round, but it's not. Otherwise it would have been called a 6.8spc or be 6.8mm.

The part of the HK416, it's not the rifle or the bolt system which are different technologies that when put together make a new innovative design.

You can't use the old it was copied, routine. Innovation comes from the merging of 2 or more older ideas that make one. Also innovation is based on the same old stuff we already had for materials. If we went straight to the basics, nothing is innovative due to the fact we are limited to our basic materials which have been used for ever. In which case the discovery of metals and wood were the only true innovative things.

But of course, everything is based on ones perceptions.

How's that for deep?

Next stop in the Phylosiphy class: "Are we really here?"

Just kidding guys, we are here.

I think??????
