Hi All

Does anyone have an idea of what the Greek military handgun was in the World War 1 era?
I have looked through my reference books and the internet with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can try and find out for you. I'm Greek and my dad lived there till he was 17or 18. And my cousin is a police officer there. I know he carries an H&K right now. :D

M1903 and M1908 Bergmann Bayard auto's in 9mm Bergmann Bayard caliber.

Also probably some of the other 6.5 and 7.65 European auto's as well.

I've got a sneaking suspicion they probably also had some of the old blackpowder 11.7mm Gasser revolvers that were common around that part of the world during the era.

There was a Greek designed pistol as well...I think it was loaded from the rear!:p :p

Ya, i know, bad joke.

At least for once we are not picking on the French!

Not bad...In one posting you've managed to insult three different nationalities. The man asks a reasonable question and you take the thread to the crapper with your offmark comments.

Greeks outright, French by inference and Russians on the sig line. I hope that clears it up for you, perhaps you were too busy laughing to make any sense of what I said previously.
BTW, I've probably forgotten more jokes than you've ever heard, just that I
prefer not to propagate negative stereotypes for the sake of a chuckle.

Shut up, goof!

I think the it was the Russian revolver at the time. Not too sure though thats what I've been told. Their rifles were the Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1903/14 rifle. :) In reality up untill WW2 Greece bought equipment in small numbers from every country they could so it wouldnt surprise me if there were multipul models that were issued. :p

Grandfather faught in Greece during WW2, armed with British Equipment and after the War American Equipment. He says he really liked the American Springfield M1903 rifles. :)

Light Infantry, no picking on the French or the Greeks.

Wow...quick retort!

Realize this, YOU can never insult ME with the dribble of racist crap. All you're doing is electronically announcing to the world what a mental midget you truly are.

When someone doesn't understand the difference between a harmless joke (btw, it was very clear that I stated it was a joke) and the sytematic slandering of a particular race, that person is the mental midget. Don't try to take something in jest and try to blow it all of out proportion and make it some huge social issue you ####tard, others have tried it here with no success (btw don't get eaten by red meat).

I would like to point out that the Greek Nationality is NOT a race

Any claims of racism are completely off base.....

The correct term to use if one is to take the "joke" as a serious slander is BIGGOTRY!

Now back to your regularly scheduled bickering.
