I'm in the market for a new rifle scope.
And looking for some feedback on the vortex line of scopes.
The viper PST 6-24X50

Pro's and Con's ?
And if it's any good how has the best price ?

I have been using this model for about 2 years now on my .223. For its price point I have found it to be a good scope. The glass is bright and clear for the 600-700 yards I use it. The turrets have a good positive click and the zero stop function works although not as solidly as I would like it to. Seems to allow about .5 to .75 moa of travel past 0 rather than positively stopping at 0. The illuminated reticle is nice to use in lower light conditions. It is a little heavy, but that doesn't bother me as it is built solid.

I have not had the chance to compare it to the Sightron scopes which many claim are better and at the same price point. As nice as the vortex is I don't think it compares with the higher end scopes like my NF.

I also like mine mounted on a 260, I went back and forth between the sightron and the vortex, and with the extra features in the vortex is has not disappointed. I think the glass , at least on mine, is not as far off my nightforce as some think they seem to be.

If you like the vortex save your cash up and do it right the first time and get the Razor HD Gen2, buy once cry once, and it will last a long time.

As Thorvikingpower said above... If you're willing to wait, buy once cry once.

Love my GEN1 Razor, never will regret that purchase.

My buddy has a Vortex Viper 6 -24 X 50mm and loves it. Only thing he regrets is getting the MOA version instead of the MIL version.

If you are going to wait and save up for the Razor HD Gen2, might as well save up a little more and get a Schmidt and Bender PM-II........ ;)

Jerry didn't seem so enthralled with the Razor at max magnification: http://mysticprecision.com/2016/02/vortex-razor-hd-gen-2-4-5-27x56/

For the price of the Razor, I'd expect better as well, considering it's in NF/SB price territory.

He didn't like it when he ran it to the extreme end of the adjustment range.
The glass is close to s&b, and far beyond most of what nightforce offers.

In regards to the pst 6-24: the glass is better on the ffp version. The vortex 6-24 ffp still lags behind the sightron s3 ffp glass in terms of resolution, noticeably. The sightron can resolve .204 holes clearly at 300 yards, the vortex cannot see them. Same conditions, same day, side by side comparison.

I have a Viper PST 6-24 mounted on a 24" barrell AR-10

Paid approx $800 USD + tax for it.....for the price I'm quite happy with it, keeping in mind I'm using it as a range toy only on a restricted. I have the MOA version.

I bought a VIPEr PST and if you put it up to other glass for the same price you will see the difference. They have a crazy good warranty as well.
