I can hardly see a red laser let alone a red dot.
So I am thinking about putting a green dot on a rifle.
I'm sure some of you here have some experience with a green dot or two.
Would you be willing to advise me on what to go for and what to stay away from?
I'm not looking to spend overly much as I bought a business and a truck yesterday, am closing on a house within the week and getting married at the end of june. Goodbye debt free life lol

I have a Holosun with a green reticle.

Ive had a few different brands (SIG / Vortex / Trijicon / Holosun) and I am slowly switching to Holosun for everything.

Go to any outdoor shop that had archery gear and pick up some standard fiber optic bow sites. The 5 pin usually have two green two red and one yellow. Spend a minute looking at them and see what colour pops best for you. Then pick your dot colour on that. I’m green with red close second. Yellow not even on radar. I use green on Trijicon accupoint scopes and really like the green dot on Holosun as well but the red is close.

Apparently green is easier to see or has less starburst effect for people with astigmatism.

I have recently ordered my first green dot sight, so we shall see how that goes.

I've got a 'low-cost' amazon reflex - UUQ 4-reticle w-Red/Green (now unavail) I bought 3-years ago. I've found the Green reticles are more visible, Unless you're shooting into grass or foliage. Really great for targets at the range. I prefer the ret with a circle around a centre dot, for quick acquisition. Here's the specs, it's 3-MOA dot which I use with a 6-o'clock hold so it doesn't obscure my target.

Cheapo sights like that are also available at Cabelas. I had one on my R92 level gun and liked it but they are pretty cheap and not gonna stand up longterm or to a decent beating.

I am in the same boat.

Can't see red in the sun worth beans.

My pistol front fibers all get converted to green and I use green dots instead of red.

Works much better for this old cat.

if you, and others on this thread, haven't checked out the trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 green dot duplex I highly suggest it for general hunting rifle scopes, for those of us the green makes sense for it's an awesome hunting set up, all my leupolds got pulled for these, not cheap though but worth double the leupolds for the glass and the dot
