Green reloader needs some help!

I'm not an expert, but you might want to try IMR4895 of hodgdon blc(2) powder. From the hodgdon website load data, you can use both in both cartridges, and in a WIDE variety of others as well (face it, you're going to buy another gun, and you'll reload for that too :) ) As far as primers go, just go to your local shop and see what they usually have in stock and use those. When i say usually, i mean ones that they will generally always have whenever you go in. Don't switch primers, or you might find yourself working up new loads constantly :)

I dont think your original list had a priming tool listed. You will need something to install new primers. Any of the Lee kits will have that, such as the hand press kit, or 50th anniversary kit. The hand press alone does not. You could just add a ram prime to go in any press or the hand prime and shell holder for your calibre.

If you go with the Lee anniversary kit, dies for your 6.5x55 and .303, case length gauge for each calibre, Lee manual, bolts to hold down press, a type of powder common for your calibres (IMR 4895), large rifle primers, bullets, and a cheap Canadian Tire calipre you can be into the hobby for just over $200 before shipping. I would check out Lee Factory Sales online. Greg there is probably the least expensive source for Lee products.

Any stndard large rifle primer will work. Buy a box of 1000.

You should buy a caliper. Good for many tasks. Don't need a case guage.

A good powder for those two calibers would be 4350. the 6.5 really wants a slower powder, so 4350 is a good compromise. It works just fine in a 303 and has the advanatge of being a little more forgiving for a newbie reloader.

You will be able to make ammo that goes bamg with a scoop. With a set of scales you will be able to make real good ammo.

Start a notebook of your loads. A different page for each rifle.

I note on 8 x 11 pages in a 3 ring binder:

Date results powder charge primer case OAL Velocity Comments

For rifles i note the group size under "results" For pistols I note P F G VG VVG
