Real name is Hunter. I live in Denton, TX which is a two college town 36 miles north of Dallas. I got referred here by pebsykid and am glad to be here.

I've actually been to Canada quite a few times and love it there. My heart is torn between Nova Scotia (my first ever trip to Canada) and Alberta which is where I went for my honeymoon. Anyway, I love guns, and I just completed my concealed handgun license course and just have to send in the papers. Guns I own are a .22 bolt action rifle, snub nose SW .38 special modified, .22 single action revolver and a Mossberg 500 12 gauge pump shotgun.

Good to be here. Fecking love Canadians. :shotgun:

Welcome!!

I've actually been to Denton a couple times, went shooting at Bullet Trap in Plano and then DFW Gun Range. Had a pleasure to meet many good people at and outside work there.

Any good ranges in Houston to go to, if you know?

Don't know of any in Houston I'm afraid. That's cool you've been to Denton before. Seems like a lot of foreigners go there for some reason.

It's a nice town, good schools, big gun owners there.

A big howdy Hunter from the other "God's country". Texans and Albertans always seem to get along, must be the clean air and the ornery streak rednecks are famous for.;)

And yes jealous as heck, concealed carry is just a dream in these parts:mad:

IWhen I was in Alberta, I was only there about maybe a half day and something in the air just kept telling me that politically, there was something different about this province.

So I asked some guy and he tells me the conservatives have been in power in that province for like a hundred years and yeah, Texans and Albertans get along really well.

When I asked him if Albertans thought of representatives in Ottowa by and large as douchebags regarding gun rights, the way we think of easterners and gun ban happy California as douchebags he said "pretty much they are doncha know?"

Can you confirm this? I'm trying to broaden my Canadian education on the subject of what or who constitutues douchebaggery. Thanks! :sniper:

Hunter, speaking for this Albertan, yes the douchery in Ottawa continues, the rights of law abiding firearms owners have been and continue to be eroded by the morons in Ottawa that think passing laws will cure crime. The opinion of myself and a lot of other gunnutz is a properly armed citizen is the best deterrent there is.
If your ever heading this way let me know and I'll make sure you get a real western Canadian welcome.

HA HA..pebsykid already told me he would shoe me in the nuts when I come up. LOL

But I know what you are saying. Alberta is basically like a far north version of Texas....except you have Tim Hortons and we have crappy donut stores. ffs!

I loved my visits to Texas. My family moved down there for 9 years ( I was outta the nest already) and my 2 baby sisters live down there still; ones married with 2 kids, the other ones engaged. My mom, step-dad and brother have been back 3 years now. One sisters in Tyler and the other is in a Dallas suburb. I'll be bringing my Mrs and new baby ( 2 weeks away!) down there for a visit hopefully this year. I sure love the common sense applied to self-defence in your parts. I'd sure like to get one of those Utah CCW's if they start giving the course again, it'd be nice to pack when I'm "in Rome".

Welcome to our little board.

Edit: Calean, I thought I'd ask you if you had any recommendations for any of the better gun shops in the DFW area? I imagine there's a few and would like to just visit the better ones. To be honest I'd like to visit each and every one.... but with the wife and baby in tow I have to be respectful of their time too :)

There is actually a lady that I buy guns from that she sells out of her house. I know, gotta love the USA where you can sell firearms out of your house! Anyway, she's a total professional, can get you anything you want. I would have to check though to see if she ships internationally. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, are you not allowed to post links to other sites, i.e. might be considered advertising?

I had a chance to visit San Antonio and the Alamo in the 90's and I've always said to the wife I'd love to live there, Great City and Great State. I'm near retirement and I plan to visit again, maybe for good. I never got up north though where you are but I can imagine all Texans are proud of their heritage. Long live the memory of Davy Crocket, William Travis & Jim Bowie and their heroic last stand !! Still ives me goose bumps having stood there !!

Hey man, I live just north of Calgary, AB and I went on vacation to Amarillo about 8 years ago and still think about how fun it was there. Palo Duro Canyon was beautiful. Didn't get around to shooting anything while I was there, and I regret that. You should come up this way in July for the Stampede if you want to feel right at home... maybe you were here for it before I dunno.
I'm originally from Ottawa (and not a douchebag! lol) and a total gun lover from a young age. It's not the people in Ottawa that don't like guns it's only a few crackpot politicians that think everyone there is that way. There have been a few shootings in Toronto recently that have everyone scared of handguns in particular and talking ban, but really I'm 100% positive that in the end it'll never happen, it's all just talk and when everyone really thinks hard about it they'll understand what we all know: crimes aren't committed by registered gun owners with their registered guns!! 99% of the time it's just a bunch of gang bangers with their illegal, smuggled guns that are behind it all... it's just common sense really!
If anything happens I'm sure it'll be less tough gun laws in the future. Let's all be positive, eh? :)
