Having just received my Norc 1911A1, I was a little disappointed with the cheap plastic grips. I have a Hogue grip lined up to replace the stock grips. But looking at the stock grips they do not look all that hard to make, and considering I have a pretty good background as a woodworker/cabinet maker, I figure how hard can it be. Toughest part looks to be the checkering. Who here has made there own grips and done their own checkering? Any tips? Know of a good place to buy some checkering tools?
