Grips and comp bushing from USA... Quick question

I know I red this somewhere...

I know I can't order these from the united states directly but, can I go and buy one and come back through customs with these and be legal?

It's just a barrel bushing comped and a pair of grips. I cannot order these in Canada. To those who wish to comment that a comped barrel bushing is not effective blah, blah, blah... I don't care and yes, I am that vain. It's purely esthetics.

Anyway, can or can't I...

You mean not legal to buy this in the USA and come back in Canada through customs ? Even by car? I just want to be legal? It's just those two parts...
 
The US State Department will likely have something to say about the unlicensed export of ITAR controlled goods.....

BTW, Brownell's sells grips, and all manner of 1911 parts.... and they have the paperwork in place to export as well, as long as their supplier is licensed for export.

I'd check with their International desk on what parts are okay to bring in.. they have an 800 number and are very helpful

you can legally buy it, and you can legally bring it into canada, but you cant legally take it out of the states without a bunch of paperwork.
 
OP: You have it backwards in your original post. You CAN order many/most parts directly from the US from a supplier (such as Brownell's mentioned above) who is licensed to export. You CAN NOT be the exporter yourself, ie pick up parts down south and transport them out of the US personally. The Canadian side doesn't care although they could send you back for a conversation with the US guys. However if you come in contact with US enforcement while in possession of gun parts, ammo, powder/primers/brass etc you are potentially in serious trouble.
