I bought a Benjamin HB22 multi-pump air pistol a couple months ago, and it's far more fun to shoot than any of my CO2 pistols, not to mention far more reliable in cold weather. But the stock trigger is gritty as all hell, feels like it has about 5 or 6 stages, no joke. Has anyone run into the same problem, and if so, had any success in fixing it?
The gun doesn't look too complicated to take apart, but I figure a spot of advice first might save lots of grief later. If the guts aren't too finicky my guess would be giving the trigger-group a good polish with 1200 grit sandpaper might do the trick...

Thoughts?

I have an EB 22 which is like yours but Co2 and its only a 3 stage trigger..lol.
Although ive learned to shoot it with a snap, no creep quick all at once like a shotgun and am getting good results.

As for the trigger it is a very simple unit consisting of a trigger blade, sear, and a spring which are all stamped parts so you want to square them up with a file. Be careful not to change the angle of the sear. Apply some thick grease to the engagment surfaces and then find a lighter trigger spring.
