Griz-Mag Project

No law has been broken. If he intends to leave it in that configuration, he has 30 days to report the change.

You can turn a non-restricted into a restricted, but you can't make a prohibited firearm. The government doesn't want any more prohib's in the hands of civilians - that's why they created the whole 12.x thing and grandfathered owners into those classes. You can't legally create a prohib otherwise we'd all just modify existing firearms to "earn" our way into the 12.x club.

Folds to under 660MM? Ya, you made a prohib. :)

It's a Non-restricted shotgun still.

Quote from http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5044-eng.html

Non-restricted firearms include:

* semi-automatic rifles and shotguns with barrels that are at least 470 mm (18.5 inches) long(which you have a 12.5 barrel on so you broke that rule...), and do not otherwise fall into a restricted or prohibited category; and
* single-shot or manual repeating rifles and shotguns of any length, as long as they are not designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm (26 inches) by folding, telescoping or other means. (broke that one too, I am pretty sure thats a folder. :D ) [

So ya, I'd take your pictures down. I don't really understand how after posting that quote from the CFC that you can still say your gun is non-restricted? You are clearly in violation of the two DEFINING characteristics that make a gun non-restricted...

That sure looks like it falls into the prohib class to me...

Yep, it does looks bad bad. Can't walk out of door with it.

It had only been in that configure for 2 hrs, that feeling is so thrilling.

Guys, don't get me wrong, law-breaking is not what I want. I shoot trap every Week - that's how old I am.

I handled folding AK as well as super short M4 when I was younger. Have to admit that kind of cool factor is beyond my control power, so high just have to go through it again.

Will put folding stock back on, maybe one of the midnight....

sweet!

I still dont see any reference for why the people think the previous version was prohibited.

Reading through the CFCs regs, it looks restricted to me. But I guess that neither here nor there if the owner wants to remain in the non-restricted class.

Listen, it doesn't matter if it was only for two hours. You created a prohib. 30 days doesn't factor into it all. You're not allowed to create a prohib for one second, let alone 2 hours. Do yourself a favour and leave it in it's originally configuration, and for god's sake if you're going to break the law don't brag about it on the internet.

Well, it's not a semi-auto, so I'm not sure why that part on the 470mm barrel is bolded in your quote, but that second part applies.

The main arguement in this thread seems to be whether or not the new status of this firearm is restricted or prohibited.

Reading the regs, it could be interpreted either way. The sticking part for me is the definition of the word "alteration". If cutting the barrel is considered alteration, would replacing the stock (or barrel) with factory or aftermarket parts also be an alteration? That's what needs clarification IMO.

Regardless of the interpretation, the status of that firearm did change with the addition of the folding stock. Restricted, prohib, I can't say, but uncasing either class outside of home or the range then posting pictures on the net...probably not the best idea.

Sure is a sweet looking rig though! Partial to the spec ops, but both versions look really good.

Just come back from gun shop.

Remember there is an extra shotgun in my hand now? Dominion Arms pre-drilled rail holes. See pic:

3 pre-drilled holes for rail. 2 big holes are for the GR sight.

Weaver 62 rail fits perfectly.

I don't have a good scope now so I just put on an airsoft scope on it. That scope is way to high but you get the idea.

Here we go a nice sluger!
