After 10 days of grizzly hunting over the last month, I was finally able to connect Saturday night (my last day of hunting) with my buddy MooseKnuckler.

Hunted for 8 days without even a glimpse of a bear, and finally Friday night came across a great boar. Snuck up to ~80yds, but the wind wasn't in our favor. I had a shot, but not a perfect one, so watched with fingers crossed hoping he'd feed into a decent position. The wind got the better of us and off he went. Saw him again Saturday morning, but he was moving fast and we never saw hide nor hair of him again.

Saturday evening we were heading into an area where I had seen a set of tracks a few weeks earlier, and came across this boar. While not a monster, he had a perfect coat with incredible color and not a hint of a rub (even his armpits are fully haired), and fabulous claws!

He was quartering away at 131yds, and the 140gr TSX (280AI) went in the left rear ribs, broke the right shoulder, and kept on going. He didn't take a step...straight down!

A voracious swarm of mossies and blackflies, and a dying camera batter only allowed for a few quick photos...here is the best of the bunch.

Very nice bear, congrarts.
It's a wonder such a tiny caliber as the 280 AI can put down such a critter, considering that some advocate it as a pronghorn caliber only!!:D :D :D
it just goes to show that bullet placement counts!:)

Wonderful animal. One of those I wish I never meet while sporting a bear spray. Ad the claws..... he could "dress" a tree-hugger in one move . Make that half a move.
