Could someone please tell me whether the GRIZZLY 20GA 12.5" SHOTGUN W/BEAD SIGHT - is the bead on a pedestal or not ?

SG isn't here yet and want to order a sight for it but need to confirm first.

Thanks guys.

Perfect !! Thanks for taking the time Jay.

BTW.... because of the posts on your wife's Grizz 20 ga I ordered one for mine. So thanks for the inspiration, she's looking forward to learning how to use it.

My pleasure! And, we are VERY happy with her 20 gauge Grizzly! Hell of a buy on that flash sale @ CanAm! Only issue we ran into with her shotgun is we tried sabot slugs (to use them up...) and they jammed the gun... Not sure you saw that, but I did post it here somewhere. It ran perfect on birdshot & rifled slugs!

Cheers
Jay

I wasn't aware they made a 20g, very interesting.

They sure do & it is scaled down to 20ga!

Here is a quick review I did on it with a couple types of ammo.

Here's a pic of our CanadaAmmo "His & Hers" Dominion Arms Grizzly shotguns in 12 & 20 ga.

Jay,

Yes, I recall your post on the sabot issue. Can't imagine my wife would be using sabot's so should be ok there.

FYI .... S&J sell a quality hi-viz 20 gauge 870 follower.. (just discovered this, only thought they had em for 12 ga's)

Ordered the follower for her as well as a 12.5" LOP Hogue 20 ga. over-molded stock & forend. Hoping to find the XS big dot front sight for it as well. Limbsaver R3 & Slogan Outdoors sling are hopefully next.

She seems pretty excited about it all which is great !!

My only concern is once it's all decked out know I'm gonna want my own ..... trying to avoid that !

Thanks again.

In order for the gun to hit point of aim, the front sight and the rear sight must be the same height above the bore. In the case of a bead sighted shotgun, the rear sight is the top of the receiver, and you can see the receiver is higher than the barrel. Since the barrel tapers towards the muzzle, if the bead is mounted directly on the barrel, it effectively makes the bead even lower, relative to the height of the receiver. If the bead is not raised to the height of the receiver, the gun will shoot high, when the shooter's cheek is in contact with the comb of the stock. If you don't want to modify your barrel, you can adopt a shooting technique, where you shoot just as you let the bead drop below your view, but it takes practice to make it intuitive. Another technique, which I expect many shooters use anyway, is to use jaw bone contact with the comb, instead of a cheek weld, effectivley removing the receiver from the sighting formula.

Too bad they are out of stock.

Sign up on their stock notice thingy .. but you gotta jump on it as soon as e-mail comes in.

That was the only way I could grab one. While on their site next day looking for something else, noticed they were already out.

Hope you're able to land one soon.
