Im sure alot of other fellow CGNrs are going to facepalm in anger, as this is probably the 50,000th thread about it :D

Yes putting a folding stock on a 8.5 Grizz would make her Restricted... Keeping the Overall Length ABOVE 26inches is your magic number to keep it Non-Res ;)
 
a folding stock definitely makes it restricted as it says as much in the criminal code . the pistol grip route is discussed to death on this site and has support on both sides of the argument . i would think you would get to air your thoughts on the subject in a court if found with the grip mounted as the rcmp has decided that any shotgun with a sixteen inch barrel or less is a handgun when so equipped .
 
What about a underfolding stock that would render it unfireable unless unfolded? Is the oal the usable oal or is it oal no matter what?

So true, for a forum that is designed for people to talk to each other nothing wrong with someone starting a topic.

Picking on a guy for asking a question is something you see on the airsoft forums all the time. They really hammer people for stuff like this.

Drives me insane.

the folding stock as well is a big no no, I bought my 8.5 spefically for the pistol grip for use as a bush gun for my backpack.

Before I got the damn thing on the RCMP changed the whole thing and presto chango insta-law almost like they invented law over night all by them selves.

Although I origionally was looking at a pistol grip restricted application, I'm kinda glad I still use the riflestock on my 6.5". Non restricted and with a red dot, pretty accurate.
 
Ok I this is going to sounds a bit F**ked up, I don't know this rule about the pistol grip on a shogun under 16" inchs or all the ins and outs of that rule I just know the 27" inches oal. Say if you cut the butt stock in a mannor that you could attch a hinge and locking system would that make it restricted? I don't plan on doing this but its just food for thought
 
I have seen people hingle the stock before on rifles with good success. The problem is that as stated above, if wile the stock is folded out of the way, if it is shorter then 26" and can be fired that is a no go. The only way to do it is hinge the stock in such a way that it covers the trigger to make it unusable. Or it still is 26" OAL wile hingled.
 
Shoot it with the full stock, you will appreciated it this way, they are pretty accurate shotgun for 8.5 inch and a 1600 fps slug is still pushing 1300 fps out of the short tube and shot within 6 inchs at 50 metres, one once slug at 1300 fps is very lethal... JP.
 
Why are people saying that the 8.5" Grizzly with a pistol grip would be restricted? It should be prohibited as it follows the definition of a prohibited firearm in that it is:

"a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make it less than 660 mm (26 inches) in overall length;"

Is there something I am missing here?

Is it just the stock you like or the size you like? Because I believe you could put the stock on but would have to modify it so it cannot fold.
 
I recently bought mine as well. From videos online it appeared that it should have come with a pistol grip. After unboxing I did not receive it.

I know it would make it prohibited but still would have liked to get the pistol grip. :(

You will love the gun!
 
I bought it for a gun I can take every time I go in the woods, which is a lot I was hoping to go all Jurassic park on it with the ATI top folder so it would fit real nice on the side my ruck but I will deal with it. It will be better then taking my 18.5 887 out every time.
