Grizzly Bear Petition

I disagree with opening the season on Grizzly, if there is an incident then deal with that bear.
British Columbia should be proud of our grizzly population.
They are a great bear to see in the wild, nothing compares.
I've been a hunter now for over 50 years and have seen a lot of them, never thought about killing one. If you must shoot a bear BLACK BEAR lots of them around.
Enjoy
Well you are entitled to your opinion and I respect it BUT there is an abundance of G Bears and more and more reported run in’s and attacks from them . I’ve killed 2 myself and being in on 5-6 other Kills . Ive also killed dozens of Black Bears .
Any how if they bring back a LEH hunt it will kill off the local trouble some Bears . The Real Mountain G bears will still be out there . I probably never hunt one again but I really don’t see a problem with the LEH system as we had for years to keep them under control . JMHO 😊 RJ

Signed. Politicians put an end to it for the optics and votes, not because there isn't a sustainable population of bears in the province.

The hunt was ended specifically for votes.
The NDP made it a sentiment issue, based on their own version of "ethics & morality".
Had absolutely nothing to do with science.

Now their population is expanding, as they were told it would.
Now negative incidences with Two-Legs, livestock and more are on the increase - as they were told they would.
They were warned about the consequences repeatedly.
They ignored that in favor of currying the CitIdiot vote.

And here we are...

You are thoroughly misguided... hunting will only sustain a healthy population, that is in balance with the carrying capacity of the land. Grizzlies will always exist with managed sustainable harvesting... just like all of the species that "YOU" hunt. My last year of guiding, we saw 56 grizzlies on one stretch of one river over a five day period... Grizzlies are hardly in danger. They require a huge amount of territory per bear, particularly inland. Managed hunting is good for ALL game species. The grizzly hunt was canceled because of political pressure and uneducated emotionalism, biologists did not support the closure... it was simply a political ploy... wake up to the reality of what is going on... they want your guns and they want your ability to feed yourself... they are just starting with the weakest groups and least sough after species... they will come for your deer hunting too, it is only a matter of time.

Couldn't agree more, his kind of hunting regs based on what animals we like or which ones are pretty/cute are so misguided its scary. Same reason we can't hunt the invasive swans in Ontario. People think they are pretty, the fact that they are chasing native waterfowl off their nests and impacting their populations is lost on the "but they are so pretty" crowd. Scary stuff

The year before they banned Grizzly Bear hunting they had a deal where if you put in for an LEH Moose in a given area and didn't win, you could have a Griz instead. The biologists knew back then that the population was out of balance. Signed the petition
