Grizzly Down!!

To have undertaken such a great adventure by yourself and captured all those wonderful photos is awesome! I think you are on to something switching away from the accubonds.. when selecting them, were you looking to maximize your trajectory and accuracy given that you would be taking longer shots while hunting alone?

Thanks for the posting

Thanks HB, I have used the abonds in my .260 and they are accurate and 'bonded' so I figured that the 260 gr .375 would slip through the air nice and hold together well. Well, they are very accurate in my CZ but don't hold together that well. I didn't plan on hunting alone but my buddy had to work that day and my pops didn't want to come out so I went alone. Actually being alone, I was limiting myself to 150 yards and busting a shoulder or two with the first shot, as I didn't want to have to track the animal by myself...

all others, thanks for the congrats!

I'm not too impressed with how the accubond performed, none of them went through the animal and i only found one while skinning. It was in the far shoulder and had entirely slipped its core. Now, with that being said, the boolits did kill the animal and skeletal and muscle damage was dramatic but I thought that penetration would be greater...I should note that the left shoulder blade was absolutely destroyed, there wasn't a piece left that was bigger than two inches. Perhaps my lack of experience with larger calibers on big, tough game is contributing a bit to my impression of the abond, but I think I will be loading some barnes and woodleighs next.

Thanks again.

Congrats of the fine bear!

I have never heard of an Accubond ejecting its core?
Would love to see a picture of the bullets.

I have recovered 270TSX from broadside moose...375bullets always seem to get caught by the offside fur...SOrt of a cathers mitt.
Strange thing is if you shoot a bear in the chest you will find the bullets in the fur of his a$$. :)

I would not expect more penetration from a Woddy.
