When I stripped my Grizz Mag down to clean it I followed a online manual that said to remove the barral then slide the rack about midpoint and compress the springs to release the slide and bolt, on mine the whole works slides right out without compressing anything. Is this normal for this shotgun, Thanks, Rodger

Not on an 870.

To slide the fore-end tube assembly off an 870, you must depress the left shell latch. If not, something's wrong.

Easy is correct about the shell latches. But I don't think the mag fed version would have shell latches as they are only required to hold shells in the TUBE magazine. I haven't had an opportunity to examine a box mag fed version but I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with your gun.

Well I guess I'll have to tell my dad that the 870 that has works flawlessly over 1000s of rounds, and multiple disassembles has something wrong with it. lol. It's not like it falls off if I hold it pointing to the ground, it just needs a little tug.

With the barrel removed from a Grizzly MAG pull the fore end ahead and the bolt comes out. That's it - no catches, no springs to compress.
