Saw Grizzly Man DVD on sale for $7 thought, "what the hell". It was actually a pretty interesting flick. Treadwell was seriously ####ing delusional though...

The dude (Elgi) from Alaska Parks had him figured out best, when he called him disconnected from reality and retarded.

If you haven't seen it it's worth watching.

crazy_davey the people that were Treadwell's buddies/support system are all seriously left-wing bent, city hippies primarily, with no connection to reality and the wildlife... just like Treadwell, a Florida to California Disney-geek with a ####ing Teddy bear in his tent...

But the show gives some excellent perspective on the situation. Pretty much anybody that had a background as native Alaskans thought he was loco (except for the bush-pilot). But I sorta think that guy had an admiration for Treadwell and maybe didn't actually agree with what he was doing.

Some of the bear footage is spectacular and the stuff with Treadwell at arms length of brown bears just makes me shake my head! Like what a kook!

The fight between the 2 boars was awesome! One of those huge boars actually takes a #### right in the middle of the battle.

Treadwell deserved to get eaten; that was inevitable, it's too bad that he got that girl killed too.

Some of the rants they show that Treadwell had were also just insane. The man had lost touch with reality.

And yes the show is worth watching. Everybody needs perspective.

Everybody needs perspective.

Pespective of what? How stupid some people can really be?

I think more hippies need to go out and play with big bears, hopefully with the same outcome in the end.

Treadwell did absolutely nothing to protect bears. Too much :onCrack: made him feel invincible.

Sorry to hear about your $7. :(

Nuttier than squirrel sh*t.

It's kinda hard getting into a movie when in the opening scene they tell you how it ends. I watched the first 1/2hr and turned it off. If you've seen one clip of this guy poking the bears like the croc hunter you seen em all. :slap:

One of those movies where it all works out for the best in the end. Hope the bear didn't get sick...........

As for helping the bears, he did more harm than good.

I agree with huntnstuff. I love a happy ending. :D

I feel for the girl, as I didn't feel she really wanted to be there. But I'm certain she was there for cover...I think this guy flamed more than a torch. Anybody as supid as this guy was deserves to be digested. I still think one of the best parts was when they were interviewing the pilot with the big mustache. You could see he was trying to hold back a smile when he called him retarded. :p

I think Treadwell's dad probably told him "you won't amount to sh*t.......".
...........well, Tim proved the old man wrong eh

And that is pretty much what it comes down to. One whom believes that he can actually push his luck that many years in a row has lost touch with reality.

I believe that we can all feel part of nature when it is saturated and all around us. I think as hunters and fisherman we have all felt that moment where we can feel that we are part of what is around us. It is a wonderful feeling. But, to think that we can become part of a wild animal communities that and be accepted as one of them is DELUSIONAL and dangerous.

Oh well, it takes all kinds of people to make a world.

Treadwell was seriously and legitimately mentally ill. It is ironic that it is the video that he shot of himself that most clearly shows it....

This is not intended to be a "National Geographic" style wildlife documenary, but rather a glimpse into one man's madness that ultimately cost him his life. Taken for what it is, I think it is a good flick, well worth seeing. And there is some pretty good bear footage as well!

One of the "blue collar comedians" made a hugely funny joke about it. Goes something like this: Treadwell's father had told his son that he would never amount to $hit....Treadwell went on to prove his father wrong as he ended up as bear $hit. I damned near pi$$ed myself when I heard that. :D

i liked it...anyone that can live with grizzlies that close and get within a few feet of them for 13 years is pretty insane, brave or should have played the lottery more...when he had foxes hang out and curl up with him like pets it was pretty cool too...he was a flaming insane wierdo though...

A benefit of watching the movie was that I had my teenage daughter (animal lover) watch the movie with me.
Naturally she loved the scenes with the foxes but by the end of the movie even she could see that the guy was whacko.

So I think she learned the message that Treadwell was pushing was just fanatical raving, without basis in reality.

"I'm here to protect the bears..."

"And that's Mr. Chocolate and that's, blah, blah, blah..."

Rough translation:
"I'm Timothy Treadwell, a California Whack-Job hippie with a death wish..."
