Grizzly tools

You would have to drive across the border and pick it up as they
will not ship to Canada, something to do with not stepping
on busy bees or some one's toes ( I forget who- old age setting in)
I tried acouple of times to order wood lathe from them.
Ckeck out busy bee if you have one close to you

Spend a few days in the States with friends and you are exempt for $450.

I used to drive down to the Bellingham store a lot. they have some nice machines in there and they are less than what they cost in Canada IIRC.

Their machinery is also usually made in Taiwan instead of China (what Busy Bee stocks) if that matters to you.

I have friends in Lynden who have big Grizzly milling machines and lathes and they are very good quality.

One thing to remember is that the Grizzly warehouse is only open Monday to Friday, as they are primarily geared towards being a mail-order company. That is the only thing about them that ever pissed me off.

Busy Bee has some nice stuff........but I like Grizzly better.

You just need a USA address for them to ship to where you can pick it up or have a service bring it across the border ie a broker. I had a lathe shipped to my broker and he brought it to my door. No duty, just the usual taxes and if it goes to a different state then no state tax. So far a very good deal and the machine is running well. The owners of Grizzly and Busy Bee are apparently related and have made a deal not to ship to Canada. I would have happily bought from Busy Bee if they had what I wanted at the same prices. Maybe they should do a deal about that instead.

I tryed to buy a mill from them but thay will not ship to Canada, if you call the shipper thay will pick it up no problem. I called house of tools and got the same mill for $5.000 the one from Grizz would cost about $5.500 cdn.

For tools etc there is cdcotools which has excellent prices and ships to Canada very promptly. Of course they are made in China but again I have been very impressed with quality so far. Much cheaper than Grizzly as well and some prices are so cheap you will think the stuff must be junk! In fact I replaced a fryed $350 Mitutoyo dro with a Chinese one for $49 and the guys like it better.

I bought alot of stuff from ENCO. My toolholders, bars and inserts are from Kennametal, local salesman. The chinese DRO on my lathe works great so far, don't really need it but it sure impresses some people :D

BusyBee Tools is owned by Anil Balolia in Concord, Toronto his brother owns Grizzly tools in the States, neither will ship into each others territory.

Busybee Tools have a very good CT129 mini mill at around the $1000 mark its in "MT2" this has been a problem as little tooling is avaiable in that taper, but the next shipment will be in MT3 and will be called the CT129N this will be a big seller and the machine I shall be purchasing when it arrives, they also have a new mini mill similar to Princess Auto for $300 less retailing around $685 its called the CT133 and is in MT3.

Re - CDCO - I ordered a D1-4 backplate and some QC toolholders from them. Very fast, excellent service, they used a flat rate USPS mailer box, so delivery charges were very reasonable.
