ground hog

I've caught them using live traps (hav-a-hart I think) baited with celery, tomatoes, and other vegetables lying around. Bonus points if you get a chance to fire some rounds off.
 
I dont want to flood because the hole goes under my shop and it may wash away from footings. I just want him out where I can give him a dose of lead ,but he hangs too close to the hole and sees me before I see him.
 
Just get there early in the morning and have patience. Even if he sees you and goes down he will re appear shortly. Using a hose will not wash out your footings, any dirt you displace with the water will just run into the bottom of the hole and fill it in a little.
 
Portable radio, tune to the worst radio station you can find, full volume, then walk away. A day or two at worst and you will either lose your shop guest or have a head bangin', rockin' out DUDE of a ground hog. :rockOn:

Years ago we had a groundhog under the cottage - dad ran a hose from the car's exhaust into the hole and let the car idle for 20 min. or so.
Seemed to work (After finding the exit hole and blocking it up)
 
Wait him out. If the weather is nice, it'll want to be up feeding. Might take 5 minutes, might take 45...but keep yourself as out of site as possible, stay still, and your target will appear.
 
My daughter-in-law was plagued with a skunk living under her back yard sheds, (sprayed her dog) so I bought her a "live animal trap" from our recent new Peavy Mart store. It was within 24 hrs that that she caught it in the trap and popped it off with a 410 shot gun blast!
 
Live trap and any vegetable will do, but you won't keep another ground hog away. Sprinkling blood meal around might, but not likely .
There is a no discharge by-law in Georgina township, so shooting is out.

Plan 'B' would be dumping a box of moth balls down the hole. Cheap and won't leave a dead chuck under your shop.

Do the snake thing! :)

Another option is to pump smoke into one hole that you can find and place a net over all exit holes that you are aware of (like in the snake video I posted). This will flush them into the traps
