grouse hunting 2022 in bc

I'm wondering how the grouse population is doing this early fall. looking forward to hunting them soon.

So far in my neck of the woods it’s looking decent, have been seeing them on the side of the roads a fair bit as we head in and out of the bush for work early in the am and later in the day. As always your area may be different.

In my neck of the woods my GF and I often limit out daily, early season that is. Once the lead starts flying around for a few weeks the Grouse tend to get a little more shy and a lot smarter to vehicle traffic. We are in Interior of BC. Wouldn't you like to Know where. The population where i live has always been quite abundant. Happy hunting 2022

They still seem to have healthy numbers in Salmon arm.

if you look at the spring weather patterns for areas of BC that typically have abundance, you can get an idea where to expect decent bird numbers.
Cool wet springs tend to reduce numbers if the cool wet weather happens during the hatch.
Or so I was told by hunters older than me over the years.
I bought a new .22 last year so I could get back into bird hunting again and kinda casually looking for a .22/.410 combo

well, I finally made it out today. where I was the ground was very dry and noisy. like walking on cornflakes no grouse today.

First day out yesterday; saw about a dozen grouse, managed to bring home 4 that we had opportunities for (Coyote spooked a large covey ahead of us at one point).
