Grouse in the Cariboo

I picked up 3 last week, in a group of 6 I think. Otherwise I have only seen singles, and not a whole lot of those. I suspect the late spring rains played hob with the hatch this year in our area.

My buddy brought up his pointer, and only managed to flush 4 birds for us the whole weekend, all singles. :? :? :?

BUT some oldtimers say that a bit later in the season lots will come out of the deeper bush. Hope so - it's weird when you can see more deer and moose than grouse.

The other thing is, I think coyotes and fox are up this year....

Have you got lots up your way? I may have to join you up there for a day! 8)

I'm not up there yet, BUT, going up this thursday evening for the weekend :D

Have to winterise the boat so might as well take the time to go hunting for a couple of days or so.

I'm looking for deer, but i'll take a 20g in case i get charged by one of those crazy 'Cariboo' grouse.

Last year, all year, I got off one pitiful shot at a grouse... I hope they're around this year so I can take a few more embarassing wingshots.

You want coyotes come down to White lake(Salmon Arm) ask one of the farmers just out by white lake, (wich has huge trout) camp at woodheavon its got full hook ups. there are so many dogs this year its unreal there was one I front of my house and I live down town if only I had a bow.

We had a pretty wet spring and early summer, I'd imagine grouse to be down up that way.

I just spent 3 days in Lillooet hutnign sheep, and I only saw 2 grouse, neither of which I shot at.
