Grouse Today

I was out on my quad today and just taking my time driving down the trail. All of I sudden I see in a tree right by the side of the trail and nice looking grouse. I quickly stopped to have a look at it. I could of easily reached out and grabbed it, but I didn't considering they are not in season and he looked like he had been thru a long hard winter. So instead, I took a picture.

Mmmmmmm, chicken! Cant wait for bird season! Hopefully we have a fairly dry spring and they can have another double hatch year.

He is a ruffed grouse. He just sat there on the branch looking at me and I looking at him. Like I said, I could of just reached out to him as he was 3 feet away. Now that I think of it, he was probably hoping that I would give him something to eat. Even when I "reved-up" the quad and drove away he just continued to sit there.
